Overcoming Anxiety
The first thing to understand is there is a significant difference between fear and anxiety,.
Anxiety is a fear of something that MAY happen an example of this is someone that becomes anxious when they are travelling in a car, this is commonly caused due to them being worried of involvement in a car accident, the threat is not present and at the time and doesn’t actually exist, it is a possibility that is exaggerated in the mind and causes anxiety, in turn produces an anxiety attack.
Fear however is the bodies most natural response, when you are faced with a situation that is present and the mind views to be a threat to yourself, an example of this would be if someone was faced with an armed man on the street, this will produce a panic attack (the bodies fight or flight response) in which the body will ready itself to fight or run, this is perfectly normal, however producing fear when faced with a balloon is irrational and this becomes a phobia.
As with all our treatments the first course of action is to establish the reason for your anxiety, we do this in the most appropriate way which may be a through questionnaire, hypnosis or simply a chat about the possible reasons, your therapist will talk you through these processes during your free consultation as to which will be affective for your personal circumstances as this varies from person to person.
When dealing with anxiety we use a combination of hypnotherapy, N.L.P and cognitive behavioural therapy, having a therapist that is qualified in these areas allows us to provide the most modern techniques so that positive changes can occur quickly and lastingly.
As with all our treatments you will be provided with appropriate materials for you to use in-between appointments free of charge to increase the speed and lasting effects of therapy.
